Orange County Celebrates National Nutrition Month® 2011

Let's "Eat Right With Color!"

About National Nutrition Month®
During National Nutrition Month® 2011 and beyond, the American Dietetic Association encourages everyone to “Eat Right with Color”. This year’s theme focuses on encouraging you to add a rainbow of colorful foods to your plate creating a palette of nutrients to maximize the nutritional value of your meal. “Eat Right with Color” also promotes the recently released 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans that recommend an increased focus on a plant-based diet. This combined with including lean meats, fish and poultry, and low-fat milk and dairy products creates a rainbow of colors on the plate that serves as the foundation for a healthful eating plan.

National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually in March by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Registered Dietitian Day, celebrated March 9th, increases awareness of registered dietitians as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and recognizes RDs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.

Join the Orange County Health Department and Orange County Government Offices as we encourage residents and employees to “Eat Right with Color.”
