Personal Protection Measures
Read labels and use wisely!
- Limit outdoor activity during dawn & dusk when mosquito activity is at its highest.
- Wear protective clothing…long sleeves and long pants as much as possible.
- Prevent heat stress by wearing light-colored, breathable fabric and drink plenty of water.
- Apply insect repellent with 10%-35% DEET to outside of clothing and exposed skin.
NOTE: Lower concentrations of DEET may need to be reapplied as you sweat and outdoor temperatures increase. Higher concentrations of DEET may help when your are outdoors for long periods of time, sweating heavily, or exposed to rainy conditions.
Do not spray repellent in your face! Use your hands to apply repellent to head and neck areas.
Avoid mouth, nose & eyes.
Use insect repellent according to label instructions for detailed information or repellent refer to the CDC website:
Skin-so-Soft & plant oil products may provide an oily barrier on the skin to deter mosquito bites, but are not as effective as DEET and may not provide adequate bite protection.
Be advised that certain mosquitoes can bite through clothing.
Persons experiencing flu-like symptoms, rashes, etc. should report symptoms to their doctor.
