The Orange County Community Nutritionist collaborates with local agencies and community groups to educate citizens about the importance of lifelong good nutrition and to advocate for policy and environmental changes that will enable people to adopt healthy eating practices.
Partners include the following: Orange County Department on Aging, Early Head Start, Orange County Jail, Health Department Family Home Visiting Services, UNC-CH School of Public Health, UNC Hospitals, Orange County Cooperative Extension Services, and the NC Department of Health & Human Services, among others. Referrals from Health Care Providers are welcomed.
Counseling services are available for all ages and are provided for:
- Weight Management
- High Blood Pressure
- High Cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Iron Deficiency Anemia
- Fitness and Sports Performance
- Overweight/underweight children
Fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income and may be covered by insurance.
