Join the Orange County CERT Discussion Board!

The Orange County CERT Discussion Board/Wiki is a place where team leaders and members can share ideas and resources related to developing and maintaining a CERT.  You can also share your CERT photos and add upcoming community events to the CERT calendar.  This discussion board is also a great place for potential members to learn more about the Orange County CERT Program and what our teams are doing to increase emergency preparedness in their community.

Note:  Registration is required of all users who want to post messages.  This board WILL NOT and SHOULD NOT be used to send emergency notifications.  To join the discussion go to http://orangecountycert.wetpaint.com/

Join the Orange County CERT Support Team

The Orange County CERT Support Team will engage in quarterly activities to ensure continued development and promotion of the Orange County CERT Program.  Support Team members will assist with newsletter development, community promotion, community resource identification, and more.  Future meeting dates will be forwarded to all participants who express interest.  Read the CERT Support Team Overview to learn more.

How to Make Up a Missed Class

You can make up a missed class by registering for an upcoming session of the course that you missed.  Please call 919-245-2388 to register and check for cancellations.  You can also take online training through the FEMA Independent Study web site to make up some classes.  Read the Online CERT Training Instruction Sheet to learn how.

Incident Command System Training Online

To achieve NIMS compliance, the Orange County CERT Program requires that all CERT Members complete Incident Command System (ICS) training at levels 100, 200, and 700.  Incident Command System training was developed by FEMA for persons involved with emergency planning, response, or recovery efforts.  All CERT volunteers who plan to assist with local and non-local emergency response should have working knowledge of ICS.  Please download our ICS Instruction Sheet to learn how to register and complete IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 through the FEMA Independent Study Institute web site.

Get on the MRC-TRAIN

CERT Members should take advantage of online public health preparedness courses offered by the Medical Reserve Corps Training Finder Real Time Affiliate Integrated Network (MRC-TRAIN).  This site has tons of online emergency preparedness trainings.  The coordinator will announce preparedness trainings offered through this system. The MRC-TRAIN has a discussion board, course tracking system, and links to relevant web sites.  Registration takes less than 5 minutes.  Download the MRC-TRAIN Fact Sheet to then go to http://www.mrc.train.org to get started!

Looking for your CERT ID Badge?

The Orange County Health Department issues Orange County CERT ID Badges once all training requirements are completed.  Identification pictures are taken during the participant's final training session and mailed along with the certificate of completion.  If you were never issued a badge or have a lost or damaged badge, please contact the program office at 919-245-2388 as soon as possible.  All ID badge photos are kept on file.

Standard Operating Procedures Update

Standard Operating Procedures for the CERT program are currently under revision.  The final version will be posted soon.  To request the latest draft version, call 919-245-2388.
