Environmental Health Services
Due to budget and staff reductions the following operational changes have been implemented:
- Environmental Health Services office is closed to visits and phone calls from 12:00 to 1:00 each day. We apologize for any inconvenience.
- Permits, applications, and water sample results will no longer be mailed. These documents will be sent via email or fax or are available for pick-up. Please make sure you provide us with an appropriate email (or fax number) contact.
Environmental Health is a division within the Orange County Health Department and is responsible for protection of public health through the following services

Orange County Environmental Health Services serves as a referral service to other agencies for related issues including:
- Environmental Complaint Referral
- air quality (outdoor)
- air quality (indoor) (mold, radon, moisture, asthma...)
- pest management (mosquitos, ticks, bedbugs, roaches ...)
- underground storage tanks
- stream quality
- solid waste disposal
- hazardous waste disposal
- epidemiology in NC
