Bridge Replacement Projects
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) as well as the Federal Government constantly program bridge replacement projects as bridges reach the end of their useful lives. The following map indicates the locations of bridges that will be let for bids in 2016, 2017, and 2018 as well as in future years. The “bid letting” process is defined as the process by which either NCDOT or the Federal Government invites bids or solicits proposals from construction firms for the bridge replacement work to be completed. A let date is the date when the project is opened for bids. The actual bridge replacement work will usually begin within one year of the let date. Orange County Transportation Planning Staff will notice the public regarding bridge replacement projects as the projects are programmed for construction.
