If you are a teacher in Orange, Person, Chatham, Alamance, Durham or Caswell County, we invite you to apply for a special no-fine library account. All you need is a personal library account and proof of your status as an educator. You will receive a separate library card for this account.
Present your Educator Account library card and check out up to 30 items to use in your classroom. We don’t charge fines for overdue materials, but you are responsible for lost or damaged items. You may not check out DVDs with this account. Replacement card fee is $1.00.
Books and other materials 21 days
Total # of items 30
You may renew all items 2 times, except items which are on a waiting list. You can renew items:
- In person
- By phone with your library card number, or
- Online, using your password
You may place requests on items currently on the shelf. We will notify you when items are ready for pick-up. Holds can only be checked out using the account with which the hold was placed.
There are no fines on Educator Accounts. However, after items are one month overdue, they are billed at the list cost + a $5 processing fee. All fines can be paid by cash or check at the library, or with a credit/debit card through your online account.
