Student Easy Access (SEA) Account
The Orange County Public Library works with schools across the county to give their students unlimited access to library materials and digital resources.
We currently have agreements in place with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Orange County Schools, and The Expedition Charter School in Hillsborough to offer SEA accounts to students at those schools.
The library is open to establishing SEA account partnerships with any public, charter, private, or parochial school in Orange County.
Benefits of a SEA account
- Students may check out up to 10 items (books, DVDs, CDs, graphic novels, audiobooks, e-audiobooks and internet hotspots).
- There are no fines or fees on overdue materials. If library materials are lost or destroyed, we will charge replacement fees to the account.
- Our online resources include free tutoring and test prep (PSAT, SAT, ACT, WorkKeys), language instruction, research databases, and more
If your child does not have a SEA account or that is not yet an option at your school, please contact your school’s media center specialist. You may also sign up your child for a full privilege borrower’s card. Click here for more information.
If your child already has a SEA account but you would like to limit his or her use to online use only, please contact the library at 919.245.2525.
School principals and superintendents
If you would like to offer your students the benefits that come with a SEA account, please submit a written request to the library director and assistant director. Any agreement reached will require adoption of a Memo of Understanding, spelling out the responsibilities of each organization. The Memo of Understanding will include specific language about data and resource sharing, privacy, and other considerations.
