Access Committee
By March 2019, the Access committee will:

  • Encourage local agencies to participate in United Way/NC211 and encourage residents to utilize NC211 as a comprehensive resource for all medical, dental, and mental health needs
  • Identify local medical providers that can provide care to uninsured populations and implement a campaign to encourage and educate uninsured residents on the importance of establishing a medical home 
  • Produce a transportation access improvement activity guide

Physical Activity & Nutrition Committee
By March 2019 the PAN committee will:

  • Encourage partner agencies to participate in a county-wide, consistent messaging campaign to promote eating smart and moving more as a way of life
  • Support and advocate for Share our Strength’s Cooking Matters, nutrition education curriculums, and Girls on the Run programs. 
  • Partner with Orange County Schools to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for eligible students to take home

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Committee
By March 2019, the MH&SA committee will:

  • Evaluate youth use of e-cigarettes and advocate to include e-cigarettes in the already existing point-of-sale compliance checks, and encourage enforcement for the already implemented 100% tobacco-free school policies
  • Work with local partners to distribute Naloxone kits and prescription drug lock boxes to Orange County residents; while also working with local providers to establish baseline Controlled Substances Reporting System utilization among local enrolled providers over time
  • Implement a suicide prevention campaign to encourage increased use of 911, the Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and the Cardinal Access line
