Animal Services Advisory Board

The Animal Services Advisory Board is charged to advise the Board of County Commissioners on matters of concern regarding animal issues and services within the county, and to work with Animal Services on various policy concerns and issues.  The board also hears appeal cases involving Potentially Dangerous Dog Declarations within the county.

Public Participation

Meetings of the Advisory Board and its committees are a public function and members of the public are invited to attend and permitted to speak within certain guidelines. See the County’s monthly Meeting Calendar here for times and dates of upcoming meetings.

Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool

There is a pool from which people are drawn to serve on hearing panels for dangerous dog declarations and other actions taken by Animal Services staff.  This pool is entirely independent of Animal Services staff and its members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Low-Cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinic!
Saturday, July 21
10am - 12pm
Location: Schley Grange Hall on Schley Road in Hillsborough.
One and three-year rabies vaccinations available for $10 (must have a previous rabies certification in hand to receive 3-year vaccine, a tag alone is not sufficient). Microchips offered for $35. Please bring animals on leashes and in carriers.

Animal Services is now running a year-round Senior Adoption Special: The adoption fee for any senior cat or dog (8 years or older) will be only $30! 
Also, senior citizens may take advantage of our year-round Senior Squared Special: If any senior citizen (65 or older) adopts a senior cat or dog (8 years or older), the adoption is FREE!
