Orange County's Animal Services Center is an open-door facility and operates both intake and adoption services. We are open to the public 6 days a week at our Animal Services Center, located at 1601 Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill.   

ClydeAAnimal Services has animals available for adoption, and also partners with area rescue organizations to place as many animals as possible with loving homes.  We provide Animal Control services to the unincorporated portion of Orange County and Hillsborough and are responsible for enforcing State and County laws that apply to animals (including cruelty laws, nuisance animals and dangerous wildlife).  We also manage licensing and offer low-cost rabies clinics, spay/neuter programs and other services.

Animal Services Center Hours*

  • Monday: Noon - 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday: Noon - 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Noon - 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: Noon - 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday: Noon - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: Noon - 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: CLOSED

*Pet visitations end 30 minutes prior to closing daily.

 

Animal Control Field Service Hours

  • Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • For Animal Control emergencies after hours, please call 911 to be connected to our on-call Animal Control Officer.

Animal Services Mission

The Animal Services Department strives to meet the needs of residents by working with volunteers and other partners to deliver cost-effective and integrated sheltering and animal control services that ensure the health, safety and well being of humans, pets and the community as a whole.  Addressing the problem of pet overpopulation with a proactive and positive approach is an integral ingredient of the department’s mission.

Public Art Unveiling
Thursday, June 29
6 pm

Orange County Arts Commission and Animal Services present a public art unveiling of "Calypso Cat" by Mark Elliott. Free and open to the public at the Animal Services Center, 1601 Eubanks Rd., Chapel Hill.

Cat Adoption Month!
June 1 - 30
All Cats and Kittens will be only $50 for the entire month of June as a part of our Cat Adoption Month!

Low-cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinic
Thursday, July 20
3 - 5 pm

Our next clinic will be held at the Animal Services Center in Chapel Hill, located on Eubanks Road. One and three-year vaccinations offered for $10 (must have a previous rabies certification in hand to receive 3-year vaccine- tag is not sufficient).  Microchips offered for $25.  Please bring animals on leashes and in carriers.  See details and other clinic dates this year on our rabies page.

Margaret's Cantina Dinner Proceeds

Every 2nd Monday of the month
Eat dinner at Margaret's Cantina on the 2nd Monday of every month and 10% of proceeds will go to the Spay/Neuter Program at Animal Services.
