Counselors available by appointment to help clients understand and navigate their Medicare benefits.
- Options Counseling
Certified Options Counselors help create plans for immediate and future long-term care needs.
- Caregiver Support Groups
Dementia and Parkinson's caregiver support groups offered at both senior centers. Call the Aging Help Line or see the Senior Times for all support groups, times and locations.
- OC CARES
Orange County Caregiver Awareness, Respite, Education and Support (OC CARES) offers resources to support caregivers caring for people with cognitive dysfunction, due to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
- In-Home Safety Inspections
An Occupational Therapist is available to conduct home safety inspections and make recommendations that could help prevent falls and enhance mobility.
- Transportation Options
A Transportation Specialist is available to help identify transportation options for non-drivers and help with accessing services. Transportation Call Center 919.717.1853, Monday-Friday.
- Durable Medical Equipment
Gently used durable medical equipment is available free of charge to those in need. Please consider donating your gently used equipment.
- Telephone Reassurance
"Good morning" safety calls made by volunteers to those who live alone Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. To make a referral, please call the Aging Helpline.
- Friend to Friend Program
Community-based volunteers are matched with socially isolated seniors for companionship and friendship. To make a referral, please call the Aging Helpline. To volunteer as a "friend," please call 919-245-4243 or visit Volunteer Connect 55+.
- Fit Feet
Toenail trimming service provided by trained RN's for adults age 55+. By appointment only.
- Clinic for Community Living
- Multidisciplinary assessments for falls risk, strength and balance, memory function, mood, and medication review
- Individualized recommendations for exercise, diet, home modifications, etc.
- Referral to additional services as needed
- Expect to spend about 90 minutes meeting with team members
- Health and Wellness
Health and wellness services, ranging from massages to free blood pressure screenings are offered at both senior centers, including fitness and balance classes like yoga, aerobics, tai chi, and more.
