    Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc is a non-profit, federally funded organization that provides free legal assistance, advice, and representation to low-income individuals and senior citizens on a variety of non-criminal legal issues. At the senior centers they execute Simple Wills, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney and Health Care Powers of Attorney. During the first hour, 10 – 11 am, each month there will be a presentation on "Consumer Protection Law"; during this time an attorney from Legal Aid will talk about laws that safeguard our finances and protect us from financial exploitation. This series will include 6 separate workshops on various topics including scams, identity theft, elder abuse, managing credit and debt, and unfair debt collection. Legal Aid is also available for questions regarding Wills and Advanced Directives. After the presentation the attorney will be available to provide one-on-one confidential advice.

    Project EngAGE’s Intergenerational Senior Resource Team proudly presents a celebration of oral history with Speak Out, a collaborative project between the Department on Aging and Cedar Ridge High School. Through the creation of a documentary film, Speak Out will feature four long-time Orange County residents and their stories of triumphs and challenges, joys and tribulations, and transformation and progress. Please join us for an inspirational afternoon to discover the treasures our County holds. Two separate showings are offered. Refreshments provided.

  4. Al-Anon Support Group - Passmore

    Alcoholism affects many people, especially family and friends. There are people all around that may be experiencing the same thing you are right now. This local Al-Anon group can help provide understanding and support. Al Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.
