  1. Flu Shots - Seymour

    Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine annually. The single best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated each year. Vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of getting severe influenza and their close contacts - including healthcare personnel and those with close contacts of children younger than 6 months. Flu shots provided by, Orange County Health Department and Walgreens.

  2. Volunteer with VITA - Passmore

    The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is sponsored by the IRS and provides free tax assistance for eligible low and moderate income taxpayers of any age. We have over 70 volunteers and complete over 1,500 tax returns from February-April each year. Tax help is provided at both the Seymour Center and the Passmore Center. Volunteers assist in a wide variety of roles, including: Tax Preparers (requires IRS Tax Law training), Intake Receptionists greet clients, explain the process, and organize paperwork, Appointment Schedulers answer phones and return voicemails to schedule clients for a specific day and time, and Our Computer Support team is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining our Windows laptops and printers.   6. NATURE TRAIL WALK for English & Spanish Speakers: SEVEN MILE CREEK NATURE PARK

    The Seven Mile Creek Natural Area is a portion of a larger 366 acre Upper Eno Nature Preserve. It includes portions of two significant natural heritage areas - the “Crabtree Creek Monadnock Ridge” and the “Seven-mile Creek - Sugar Maple Bottom.” Approximately 2.0 miles.   15. Orange County Senior Games - The W(Heel) To Hill - Cycling Event!

    This fall on Sun, Oct 27, Orange County Senior Games (OCSG) will host a 12. 5 mi. /25 mi./50 mi. bicycle ride between the two Orange County Department on Aging Senior Centers – Seymour, Chapel Hill and Passmore, Hillsborough (and back), to raise awareness and funds for the year round Senior Games program. This is not a race. The event will begin and end at the Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill at 1 pm. Registration Forms will be available after Sun, Sep 1 and can be picked up from the county’s senior centers, Carrboro & Chapel Hill Recreation & Parks and OC DEAPR and many other locations throughout Orange County.
