Disabled American Veteran Relief Program
The Disabled American Veteran Relief Program offers a tax discount of $45,000 to qualifying past veterans who were honorably discharged from any branch of military service. Qualifying participants must show honorable discharge papers or disability papers from the Veterans Administration.
Application Information
Please print the Application for Elderly/Disabled, Disabled Veteran, and Circuit Breaker Homestead Exclusions (scroll to "Exemptions and Exclusion Forms" and choose AV-9, 2010) and mail or bring the completed application to our office prior to June 1 of the year. Applications are due by June 1st of each year for eligibility. Please include a copy of a photo ID along with proof of income for calendar year 2009.
In addition, a Certification for Disabled Veteran's Property Tax Exclusion (scroll to "Exemptions and Exclusion Forms" and choose NCDVA-9) is used for totally and permanently disabled.
