Business Personal Property
Business personal property includes but is not limited to machinery, computer/office equipment, furniture and farm equipment. The listing must be submitted during the month of January to avoid a 10% late list penalty. However, an extension can be granted until April 15, if the request is made in writing and is postmarked by January 31. If you have any questions concerning business personal property, contact us.
Business personal property computer/office equipment, machinery, etc. are valued in accordance with trending schedules developed by the NC Department of Revenue which depicts replacement cost new less depreciation. Farm equipment and heavy duty equipment are valued in accordance nationally recognized pricing manuals.
The State provides an online County Business Personal Property Listing Form and Instructions that you may use to file in Orange County. Please note you are required to complete the form, print it and provide it to the office. Online filing is not available in Orange County.
