Registration
Registrations are accepted one of three ways:
- Online
- In person Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Central Recreation Center
- By mail with registration form sent to OCDEAPR - Recreation, PO Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC 27278
Registrations are processed first come, first served. Payment is accepted as cash, check (payable to OCPR), or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). Payment must be made in full at the time of registration.
Minimum/Maximum
In order to ensure the best possible program for all participants, many activities have minimum and maximum enrollments. Registration may close before the registration deadline if a program reaches its maximum. Likewise, programs may be cancelled if the minimum is not met
Refunds
Program fees are 100% refundable when the program is cancelled by the Department. If requested prior to seven days in advance of the first program date, a full refund less a $5.00 administrative fee will be given. If requested between two and six days of the start of the program, a 50% refund less $5.00 will be given. No refund will be given if requested less than two days before the start of the program. No administrative fee is charged if a household credit is accepted. This credit would expire by May 15 each year. At that time the appropriate refund would be processed, minus the $5.00 administrative fee. No household credits will be issued between May 16 and June 30 each year.
A receipt number or participant date of birth is required to verify the validity of each refund request.

Youth Athletic Leagues
Player Skills Assessments and Drafts
One objective of Orange County Recreation Youth Athletic Leagues is to ensure that each parent, participant and coach is given the opportunity to participate in a fun, enjoyable and fair athletic league. To this end, most leagues employ an assessment and draft procedure in an effort to distribute players equitably across all teams. Assessment times are selected by the participant at the time of registration. More information on Skills Assessments and Drafts is available at XXXXX.
Athletic Parent Meeting
Prior to participating in an Orange County Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation youth athletics league, at least one parent or guardian per player must attend a mandatory Parent Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to review the Department's stated goal of encouraging good sportsmanship and social interaction through active participation. In addition to learning how to support their child(ren)'s athletic endeavors, parents will review the Department's policies regarding behavior and decorum at League-sponsored programs and events. Must be attended once per year. More information on Parent Meetings, including a schedule of dates, times and locations is available at http://www.co.orange.nc.us/recparks/parent_meetings.asp.
Equipment
For some athletics programs (ex. Football), specialized equipment is issued to players individually. This equipment is to be returned to the Department at the conclusion of the program. Players and their families will be notified of this at the time of equipment distribution. A registration block may be placed on a participant's or family's record in the event that equipment is not returned.
