MAP Moments

Highlighting a Housing Workgroup success story:

With support from the Orange County Department on Aging and UNC’s Partnerships in Aging Program (PiAP), the OCDOA Handy Helper program has grown significantly in the past year. Previously, the Handy Helper team of 2-3 Handy Helpers, completed small jobs as they could as Orange County residents called for their assistance. Today, the Handy Helper team consists of 8 Handy Helpers, a program manager, and a PiAP intern. The team facilitates the completion of small and moderate size jobs including many ramps throughout the county. Functioning with an income-based cost-share model, Handy Helpers are able to more quickly help more Orange County Seniors than ever before.
