MAP Moments

Introducing a new Endless Possibilities feature, MAP (Master Aging Plan) Moments. Each MAP covers a five year period and we are currently working on MAP 2017-22. Believe it or not, we are already in Year 3 of the process! There are seven key domains:

  • Outdoor Spaces/Buildings
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Social Participation & Inclusion
  • Employment
  • Community & Health Services
  • Communications & Information

Every edition will include success stories highlighting our accomplishments along the way, beginning with...

Outdoor Spaces and Buildings

  • An Active Outdoor Programs section has been created for the Senior Times including programs provided in collaboration with OC DEAPR,  Carrboro, and Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation

 Social Participation & Inclusion

  • A kick-off event was held on September 9th for the LGBTQIA+ community to gather information related to programming needs. There were 28 participants
  • Two new program symbols have been added to the Senior Times to indicate opportunities for social participation and inclusion:
A red heart indicates that the program might be enjoyed by someone with cognitive impairment, together with a care partner

IG  indicates an Intergenerational program

Guard Your Medicare Card

It’s important to safeguard both your Medicare Number and Medicare card. Con artists may try to get your Medicare Number or personal information, so they can steal your identity and commit Medicare fraud.

Here’s what can you do to protect yourself: guard your Medicare card like a credit card, and only give your Medicare Number to people who should have it (like doctors and pharmacists).
