Orange County Commissioners choose Penny Rich as Chair, Renee Price as Vice Chair

Two new members were sworn in to the Orange County Board of Commissioners and the board elected new leadership for the next year at its Dec. 3 organizational meeting.

Penny Rich, who served the previous two years as Vice Chair and is in her second term as a county commissioner, was unanimously elected to serve as Chair. Commissioner Renee Price, who is also in her second term, was unanimously chosen to serve as Vice Chair.

Newcomers Jamezetta Bedford (District 1) and Sally Greene (at-large) took the oath of office along with returning commissioner Earl McKee (District 2), who was elected to his third term.

Board of County Commissioners photoBedford and Green replace Mia Burroughs, who served one term on the Board of County Commissioners, and Barry Jacobs, who served for 20 years.

Jacobs was presented with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by State Senator Valerie Foushee and Rep. Graig Meyer. Jacobs was honored for his two decades of service on the Board of County Commissioners along with his service on the OWASA Board of Directors and the Orange County Planning Board prior to becoming a county commissioner.
